Japan Weekend - Feb 14th Madrid

I visited the Japan Weekend event at IFEMA yesterday. It had two halls fully dedicated to Japanese culture. Inside you could find lots of stands with many hand-crafted products like paintings, stickers, keyrings, etc. There were also books, some of the authors were there too.

People playing some drum-like instruments.

F1 display car

Before going in, at the entrance of IFEMA, you could see an F1 car. This is because close to the exhibition center they are building an F1 track: MADRING.

People outside the halls

Once you get past the entrance point there are lots of food places and halls for different events.

Once inside, you could see all the stands. Really cool hand-crafted stuff and lots of cosplay! These images display two different halls they used.

Music was a core part of the event too, with people singing and dancing:

Board games!

People could also play board games together! Some games were classics, others looked new to me.

Other forms of entertainment included wrestling, for whatever reason… 😂

Minecraft stand

Sometimes there is also an overlap between otakus and gamers, so this fair also included some gaming-related stands and gaming booth too with consoles, although I didn’t take pictures of that on this occasion.

Framed prints

Beautiful artwork!

Libro Entre Mundos por Alma Mínguez

I bought an adventure/sci-fi book bundle with two books, and the author signed both of them for me!

Overall it was an interesting event! 😄
